ANR expects the proposed amendments to appear on the LCAR agenda for its May 14, 2026, meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This review is the next step in the rulemaking process. If LCAR approves the amendments, the final step will be formal adoption of the rules. The information below, provided by ANR, outlines the remaining steps in the process and includes links to the documents submitted to LCAR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposed amendments would:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>increase the minimum wakesports zone size to 100 acres;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>require a minimum 3,000-foot wakesports run;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>increase the required distance between wakesports activity and other lake users from 200 to 500 feet;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>increase the required distance from nesting loons from 300 to 500 feet; and\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>require the decontamination of ballasted boats before moving between lakes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The minimum wakesports zone depth would remain 20 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If adopted, the amended rules would prohibit wakesports activity on an additional <a href=\"https:\/\/dec.vermont.gov\/sites\/dec\/files\/documents\/List%20of%20Eligible%20Lakes%20Under%20Proposed%20amendments_0.pdf\">12 Vermont lakes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The information below,
