Wake Sport Zone Maps: The Department of Environmental Conservation has published maps showing where wake surfing would be allowed on 31 Vermont lakes. Take a look at your own lake.

This interactive map shown below of the 73 Vermont lakes that permit motor boating shows how the rule proposed by RWVL – with a 1000-foot offset — would affect each lake, as well as how the DEC’s draft rule, with a 500-foot offset.

• Green markers show lakes that will allow wake surfing under both proposed rules.
• Yellow markers show lakes where wake surfing would be allowed under DEC’s proposal, but prohibited under RWVL’s.
• Red markers show the lakes that will not allow wake surfing operations under either RWVL’s or DEC’s proposals.

The table below shows how each lake would be affected by the rule if the offset was 1000 feet or 500 feet.

• Lakes in pink would prohibit wake sports under either version of the rule;

• Lakes in yellow would allow wake sports with the 500-foot rule, but prohibit them with the 1000-foot rule;

• Lakes in green would allow wake sports under either rule.

In the 1000 feet and 500 feet columns, No means wake sports would not be allowed at all; Yes means that wake sports would be allowed, but must operate at the required distance from shore. Homes indicates the number of homes, cottages, and camps on each lake. AIS refers to the presence of aquatic invasive species in the lake.
